Chemical Composition Of Cement

Image
Chemical Composition Of Cement The Chemical Composition For manufacturing of cement are: Lime Silica Alumina Iron oxide  These oxides interact with each other in the Klin at high temperature to form a complex compounds. The relative proportions of these oxide compositions are responsible for influencing the various properties of cement;in addition to rate of cooling and fineness of grinding. OXIDES PER CENT CONTENT CaO 60-67 SiO 2 17-25 Al2O 3 3.0-8.0 Fe 2 O 3 0.5-6.0 MgO 0.1-4.0 Alkalies(K 2 O,Na 2 O) 0.4-1.3 SO 3 1.3-3.0 INDIAN STANDARD SPECIFICATION for 33 Grade of Cement, IS 269-1989 , gives the following requirements: CHEMICAL REQURIMENTS RANGE  Ratio of Percentage of Lime To Silica, alumina and Iron Oxide (LIME SATURATION FACTOR) Not Greater than 1.02 Not Less than 0.66 Ratio of Percentage of ...

MANUFACTURING OF PORTLAND CEMENT

Image
Manufacture Of Portland Cement Raw materials required for Manufacturing of Portland Cement :  1. Calcareous Materials :- Limestone or Chalk LIME STONES 2. Argillaceous Materials :- Shale or Clay CLAY Process of Manufacture WET   Process DRY Process                                                          1. WET PROCESS STEP 1:- Limestone brought from the quarries crushed to smaller fragments. STEP 2:- The fragments than taken to a ball mill or tube mill where it is mixed with clay or shale and ground to fine consistency with the addition of water ( SLURRY with Water Content of about 35-50% ) wherein particles, crushed to fineness of INDIAN STANDARD SIEVE  NO.9 , are held in suspension. STEP 3:- Slurry fed to Rotary Klin ( powdered  coal, oil or gas). STEP 4:- Slurry is converted ...

What is A CEMENT and its HISTORY

What is A CEMENT and its HISTORY What is a Cement ? Cement is defined as the binding material use for binding the BUILDING MATERIALS together and results in giving required STRENGTH and DURABILITY to the Structure. HISTORY: Cementing material is OLD as the History of  Engineering Construction. In the ancient past some kind of cementing materials were used by EGYPTIANS , ROMANS and INDIANS in there ancient Construction. The GREAT PYRAMID in construction contains 81.5% Calcium Sulphate and only 9.5% Carbonate. Earlier LIMESTONES were to be used as the binding Material by burning it. The investigation of L.J Vicat lead him to prepare an artificial Hydraulic Lime by calcining an intimate mixture of Limestone and Clay .This process in result of manufacturing of Portland Cement .  The name "PORTLAND" was as the resemblance of hardened cement to natural stone occurring at Portland in England . In  India, Portland cement was first manufactured in 1...
